Fair and Unbalanced

Fair is not always balanced. This is not a reference to Fox news, which is neither fair or balanced. I am referring to the balanced, but inaccurate post-debate coverage aired by most networks. Few would call the first debate between Kerry and Bush a draw, but most media outlets aired stories describing how both candidates did a great job of representing their sides.

The reality is that, while both sides did re-energize their base, even die hard Bush advocates were forced to concede that, “Bush was off of his game.” Nearly every network’s polls give both debates to Senator Kerry.

Fair can be unbalanced. Sometimes, one side is just wrong. Iraq, for example, had no weapons of mass destruction and no plans to acquire them. Sanctions were working. They had kept America safe, and the war, which did make Iraqis safer, mostly resulted in new terrorists and dead Americans. In the end, the President's haste wasted more than 1000 American lives.

The President's decision to invade Iraq, while possibly good for Iraq, was just wrong for America. Worse, we have a president that that refuses to admit or learn from his mistakes.

Fortunately, he is now losing the election.
