Once, when I was young, single and stupid, I said, "Life is good because when it isn't you can change it." My other young, stupid, and single friends said, "Brilliant."
Time brought responsibilities: debts, children, and a wife. I have learned that some changes reduce your ability to make others. So I amend my earlier perspective. Life is good. Change when it isn't, but carefully. The changes that are hard to reverse are marriage, kids, and drugs.
- Marriage:
- Half of them work half the time and end with half your money
- "The lawful thing Allah hates most is divorce."(Abu Dawud)
- "Those who marry will have affliction" (Revelations 7.28)
- "It's cheaper to keep her" (Everyone who sings the blues)
- Kids
- "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis I)
- "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis I)
