Immigration

Ive continued to struggle with my position on immigration. Suddenly, while struggling with a related ethical issue, the answer came to me. Gods position on immigration is so obvious its almost easy to miss. The bible doesnt just talk about Immigration.

Ill also add that not only is nearly every major biblical story about migration. Nearly every major biblical figure is a migrant [worker]: Adam (kicked out of Eden), Cain, Noah, Abraham (and I believe his father before him), Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob/Israel, Joseph (and all of his brothers), Moses (worth noting that there is a whole book called Exodus), Daniel, Isaiah, Ruth, Job, Jesus (interesting to reread the Samaritan story for its WWJD on immigration), Paul (and almost all of the disciples for that matter),

I've come to decide that the Bible is a book about immigration by immigrants. As such, you wont be surprised to learn that, according to the Bible, those who mistreat immigrants will not enter Heaven.

A couple of quotes:Malachi 3:5, God says,“….I will be swift to bear witness against….those who oppress the hired workers in their wages, the widow and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the alien, and do not fear me, says the Lord of Hosts.”

Matthew 25:35-41. Jesus says, “…for I was hungry and you gave me food, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
