A Great Day

It is a great day. A great man has made history and smashed through a ceiling that allows for all heads to be held higher.

His win signals not only the end to an ugly period in American history, but the beginning of a bold new one focused on improving lives with better health care, less divisive politics, greater respect across the world, and a return to American global leadership, not because we have more bombs, but because we have better ideas.

Now difficult business:
McCain only needs Ohio and Florida to win. These are two states that love Hillary too much and Obama not enough. This must be resolved.

A "Dream Ticket" with Hillary could bring women, Florida, Ohio, and many other states solidly into the blue, but her refusal to concede defeat last night was another in a series of signs that the Clintons can be more divisive than useful. A tough question confronts Obama concerning this "Dream", which is more important, to win the next 8 months or to govern well for the next 8 years. Unfortunately, you need one to do the other.

For now, let's savor the moment. A great man has won. A great country has an opportunity.
