McCain is obviously not ready for a debate that will focus on the economy.
Let's examine the facts:
* the debate was supposed to about foreign policy
* it will obviously shift to the economy
* he fired his 2 economic advisers; Gramm for saying the economy is OK and people are whining; Fiorina for saying the ticket can't run a company let alone an economy.
Noone is left to advise him and he has spent his time cramming for another test. When this happens, every student knows you have no choice. You have to skip the test. I wonder if his mother will write him a note. He can't get one from a doctor. A doctor's note will only raise other questions.
Maybe this is smart. It is better to avid a battle if you know you will lose it. Said another way it is better to stay silent and let people think you are stupid than to speak and remove all doubt.
