We need to especially celebrate:
- the person who spoke up first;
- the person who saw something and said something;
- the person who understood the consequences but knew that that if they didn't say something, scores of others would suffer as well;
- the person who intervened early so there wasn't a #MeToo;
- The person who intervened in another's behavior when they were young and impressionable:
- before they escalated,
- before they had power,
- before they became a repeat offender.
I wish for your sons to enter schools and workplaces where bad behavior is corrected early.
I wish for my daughters to enter a workplace filled with this kind of strength, not that the others aren't strong. They lived at a different time and under difficult circumstances.
We need to reserve a special place for the #MePeriod hero, who calls out bad behavior early before it is repeated, who blazes the trail that future #Metoo'rs can follow, who saves scores of others from having to say (or even experience) #MeToo.
